Now we head into the giddy and gritty age of the 1970s, when movies were becoming extremely realistic and becoming full of swear words.....aaaaggghhhhh!!

How dare they!! Wanting to make more realistic films and attitudes.....

We had a rating imposed to meet modern standards, so from G (General Audiences) to R (Restricted) and everything in between. Mostly the soft core sex movies that today could probably screen on the Disney Channel!!!

So with a new attitude lets delve into these program guides and see how many movies we remember or saw, or even have in our home movie collections....

Not so many program guides this time, as I was in my 20s and had more interesting things to do, so didn't go on holidays to Burrill Lake too much....!!

Note the Daylight starting time in some of programs!

PS I have tried to put these in some sort of order, mainly of months and trying to 2nd guess the year again but enjoy.....

PART 2 - THE 1970s

THEN......
The theatre was sold and then bought by somebody else who had no ideas about movies or running a theatre.

So the program guides started looking different and I have only one which survived.

This was for, I think, Dec - Jan 1977

Then the owner rented it out to someone else who seemed to run the theatre into the ground... but then one day that person rang me up to see if I wanted to take over his lease.... he even offered the Christmas holiday season... and I TURNED HIM DOWN!!! (probably because I was in shock... and a BIG mistake!!!).

I told him I'd take it over in February with a couple of friends and that, my friends, was an absolute learning curve of not knowing myself about running a theatre.

But that didn't happen till 1985, and in Part 3 of
MOVIES, MOVIES, MOVIES...1985 - 1990

we'll SEE THE STARS....
